Step-by-step instructions on how to plant a tomato plant in Korman Residential's Common Ground Community Garden.

Once you have a spot picked out in the garden, you can dig right in!

  • Make a hole that is deeper and wider than the roots of the plant.
  • Take some loose soil and put it back into the hole. You will want to put in enough soil so that when you put the flower in, the bottom of its stem is at the soil line.
  • Insert the plant into the center of the hole. If the roots are tightly wrapped, you’ll want to gently break them up, which allows for better growth.
  • Fill the rest of hole with loose soil, and carefully pack it down.

Now that you’re done, just water your flower regularly, use the appropriate fertilizers if you choose, and enjoy!
